      Hello,
I find it practically impossible to sing while I am playing the Bossa Nova rhythms on my guitar. I immediately lose the rhythmic pattern in my right hand. Do I just have to practice the right hand patterns until it becomes as natural breathing or are there tricks or methods to speed up th learning curve?
      My best wishes

      Hi Jörg,

Many years ago, when I first started singing while playing guitar, I found that humming the melody first for a while made it easier to sing after a while. I hope that makes sense? Maybe this might be useful to you?

      All the best,

      Ryan

Aside from what Ryan has suggested, you can mute the strings with your left hand and just play the rhythm while singing. This way you do not have to worry about chord changes and you can focus on keeping the rhythm steady while you sing. Add the chord changes when you feel you can do it comfortably.

      Best.

      Hallo Ryan, hallo Renato,
thank you for your advice. I think I shall try both methods and see what works best for me. I guess I just have to be little more patient. Other people can do it, so I think with practice I will also be able to.

      My best wishes
      Jörg
