Does he play the flute ? I think Jobim did

I think I read that Donato was an accordion player as a teenager ( I have read that it was very common then, almost expected, and these young guys and their guitars on the beach was a break in tradition … so I have read)
I would assume he moved over to piano and guitar
I don’t think I have seen any videos of him on a guitar
His reputation seems to be mainly piano

I did find a very interesting TV video from MPB Especial 1975 with him playing many songs on piano and singing, including Lugar Comum and Outra Vez
Fascinating if he really was the “inventor” of the bossa rhythm

I have never seen Donato playing guitar either. But the story about switching from accordion to piano sounds believable.
