Do Brazilians ever use a capo?

The use of capo is not common among guitarists in Brazil, especially in samba, bossa nova and choro. Many people think that the capo is used to avoid making barre chords, but this is not true. The capo is useful for making chords with open strings, which gives us the possibility to maintain the same type of “open” sound for the chords that is so characteristic in some musical styles such as country music.
