      I think it is measures 35 and 36 ?
The place where it goes to Bb then A then G#
Are the first two measures a type of Tritone substitution ?
      Bb replaces F#
      A replaces D#minor
Those replacements are an interval of “flat 5” apart from the first time thru

Those chords are hard to play, really stretches the fingers
I tried playing it with the same chords twice in the B section
Sounds ok but I guess the substitutions give it variety and interest
The melody seems to be the same both times in that section

No, these chords are not replacing the first ones ny tritone substitution, his harmonic approach in this passage is more about looking at the melody notes in each bar and finding another, and completely new, chord progression that could sustain the melody. It is difficult to explain it here because there are so many things to consider. Just think that a single note can be part of more than 30 different chords. The fewer notes you have in the melody (quality, not quantity), the more freedom you have to use a chord progression that has nothing to do with the key of the song.
