      Interesting tune. I read that it was a style popular in Sao Paulo. I didn’t appreciate the “break” that was described as the style. To me it sounded more like choro. Can you comment on this song and its style. I listened to the original by Barbosa and a much different rendition by Caetano and Maria Gadu.

      Hi Thomas,
      As I wrote in another topic, this style is called “samba de breque” (samba with breaks, perhaps). This style emerged in the late 1930s and was popular for a while. One of the greatest exponents of Samba de breque was Moreira da Silva.
